Pakistan’s first computer chip manufacturing unit will be set up in Faisalabad, marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s technology and industrial base. The government has already allocated 50 acres of land in the M-3 Industrial Estate for the construction of a modern expo centre, according to Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Chaudhary Shafay Hussain.
Speaking to members of the business community at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the minister said the new chip manufacturing facility is expected to support and enhance mobile phone assembly plants currently operating in Faisalabad, Karachi and Lahore, helping to expand local production and reduce reliance on imports.
He added that the proposed state-of-the-art expo centre is likely to be developed with financial support from the Export Development Fund, aiming to promote industrial growth, trade activities and investment opportunities in the region.
