WhatsApp has rolled out new features for group chats to make staying connected and expressing yourself easier in 2026. These updates are designed to enhance group interactions, whether you’re sharing New Year’s resolutions, planning events, or coordinating with friends and colleagues across different devices.
One of the key features is member tags, which allow users to add context to their role within a group. You can customize your tag for each group, such as being “Anna’s Dad” in one chat and “Goalkeeper” in another, making it easier for everyone to know who’s who.
Another addition is text stickers, which let you turn any word into a sticker using Sticker Search. Users can now add newly created stickers directly to their sticker packs without sending them in a chat first, making conversations more expressive and fun.
WhatsApp has also introduced event reminders. When creating and sharing an event in a group chat, users can set custom early reminders for invitees, helping everyone remember to attend on time, whether it’s a party, meeting, or online call.
These new updates complement WhatsApp’s existing group features, including sharing large files up to 2GB, HD media, screen sharing, and voice chats. With these enhancements, WhatsApp aims to provide a more interactive and organized group chat experience, keeping people closer and improving communication across all devices.
