The Punjab government has introduced a weekend double-decker bus service connecting Lahore and Sheikhupura, aiming to boost regional tourism and provide easier access to historic and cultural landmarks. Operated by the Punjab Tourism and Archaeology Department, the service runs every Saturday and Sunday, offering round-trip travel at a fare of Rs. 1,200 per person. The initiative is designed to highlight the rich heritage of Sheikhupura, encouraging both locals and visitors to explore key sites in the area.

During the inaugural tour, passengers visited the shrine of renowned Punjabi poet Waris Shah, followed by a trip to Hiran Minar, a Mughal-era monument surrounded by a scenic lake and forested area. Tourists engaged in boating and cycling activities at the site, while a traditional Heer recitation was arranged to reflect the cultural legacy of the region. The new service is expected to support tourism growth by providing a convenient and affordable travel option for those interested in Punjab’s history and cultural traditions.
