Sharjah’s Sir Bu Nair Island is set to welcome visitors for the first time, with free sea trips offered as part of its opening celebrations on October 25. The initiative was announced by the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority during the closing events of the Sir Bu Nair Festival.

Situated 112 kilometres off Sharjah’s coast, the four-kilometre-long island is a significant natural reserve and is being developed by Shurooq into a luxury eco-destination. The island is renowned for its distinctive horseshoe shape and diverse ecosystem, providing a habitat for endangered turtles, coral reefs, and a variety of seabirds.

Authorities have encouraged early registration for the opening trips due to limited visitor capacity, highlighting the unique opportunity for the public to experience one of Sharjah’s most pristine natural environments while supporting conservation and eco-tourism efforts.
