Pakistan has reaffirmed its call for the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and establish an independent state. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly Debate on the Question of Palestine, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized the need to end the occupation of Palestinian territories.
He stated that Pakistan supports all genuine efforts aimed at stopping the bloodshed, protecting civilians, preventing displacement, rebuilding Gaza, and promoting a comprehensive peace based on international law. Ahmad stressed that any ceasefire must be fully implemented without unilateral actions or military activity, and that the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza is essential. He also called for immediate commencement of reconstruction efforts in the region.
Earlier, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, expressed hope that Pakistan would contribute its expertise and resources toward Gaza’s reconstruction. Speaking at a joint press conference with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Egyptian foreign minister highlighted Cairo’s expectation of Pakistan’s active participation in the forthcoming international conference on Gaza’s early recovery and rebuilding. Ishaq Dar noted that both Pakistan and Egypt closely assess regional developments, with particular focus on the critical situation in Gaza.
