A severe water crisis is unfolding in Tehran as authorities report rapidly depleting supplies and warn that, without imminent rainfall, parts of the capital may face evacuation. President Masoud Pershkyan cautioned that Tehran’s main reservoirs hold only about two weeks of usable water, creating an increasingly urgent situation for millions of residents. Officials expect water rationing to begin by late November or early December, but continued dry conditions could push the capital toward even harsher measures. Iran has experienced an alarming 40% decline in nationwide rainfall this year, worsening drought conditions and placing additional strain on already stressed water infrastructure. Emergency teams are monitoring reservoir levels and preparing contingency plans as the government urges residents to conserve water. Environmental experts warn that, without significant rainfall, the shortage could disrupt essential services and force authorities to relocate residents from the most affected areas.
