Federal Government Announces Second Consecutive Cut in Petrol and Diesel Prices
Petrol falls by Rs. 5.45 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs. 3.68 per litre as the government continues its daily fuel pricing mechanism, marking the second reduction this week.

The federal government has announced another reduction in the prices of motor spirit (petrol) and high-speed diesel (HSD), effective for the next 24 hours, according to the latest official notification. This marks the second price cut within the same week under the country's ongoing daily fuel rate update system.
Under the new rates, petrol has been reduced by Rs. 5.45 per litre, bringing the price down to Rs. 369.06 per litre. High-speed diesel has been lowered by Rs. 3.68 per litre to Rs. 391.52 per litre. The revised prices will remain in effect for one day before the next scheduled review.
The latest adjustment follows a reduction announced on Monday, when petrol was cut by Rs. 3.40 per litre to Rs. 374.51 per litre and diesel by Rs. 7.76 per litre to Rs. 395.20 per litre. Together, the two consecutive cuts have provided some relief to consumers and businesses that rely heavily on transport and fuel costs.
Despite the recent downward trend, the broader picture remains challenging. Since the introduction of daily fuel rate updates, petrol prices have risen cumulatively by Rs. 58.35 per litre and diesel by Rs. 68.22 per litre. The daily pricing mechanism reflects movements in international oil markets and other cost factors, and rates can change frequently.
The government's decision to move to a daily notification system is aimed at aligning domestic prices more closely with global market fluctuations. For consumers, transporters and industries, these short-term reductions may offer modest savings, though overall fuel costs remain significantly higher than at the start of the daily pricing regime.
