Karachi is set to gain a new flyover on Nishtar Road as the city administration moves forward with another infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would build the flyover at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 billion.

Speaking at a press conference at the KMC Head Office on Monday, the mayor said the corporation had scheduled the groundbreaking ceremony for November 20. He added that the KMC intends to complete construction within 100 days using its own financial resources, rather than relying on external funding.

The Nishtar Road flyover is part of the city's broader infrastructure development programme, which covers road rehabilitation, traffic improvement and other civic works. According to the mayor, the local government is carrying out development projects across all seven districts of Karachi as it works to address long-standing infrastructure needs.

The project is one of several major initiatives the KMC is pursuing through its own resources. Other ongoing works include the Chakora Nullah Expressway, the rehabilitation of major roads and the construction of alternative routes designed to reduce traffic congestion across the metropolis.

The KMC expects the new flyover to be finished within the announced 100-day timeline. If completed as scheduled, the project would add another key piece of infrastructure to Karachi's road network and could help improve traffic flow on one of the city's busy corridors.
