Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad Set to Open Thursday After Record 27-Day Completion
The Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad has been completed in a record 27 days and will open to traffic on Thursday, November 5, with landscaping and 6,000 new plants added around the site.

The Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad has been completed in a record 27 days and is scheduled to open to traffic on Thursday, November 5, according to officials. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the site late Wednesday night to inspect the finished structure and review final touches ahead of the opening.
During his visit, Naqvi met the construction workers who built the underpass and credited them for delivering the project ahead of schedule. He called them the real heroes of the project and praised their round-the-clock efforts to meet the 27-day deadline.
The minister also reviewed the quality of the construction work and acknowledged the labour put in by the crews involved. Officials said the fast turnaround reflects a push to complete key road infrastructure in the federal capital within tight timelines.
Beyond the road structure, the project includes landscaping in the surrounding area, with 6,000 new trees and plants already planted near the underpass. The greenery is intended to improve the look of the corridor while the new route eases congestion.
The underpass is expected to improve traffic flow at Kashmir Chowk, a busy intersection, and offer motorists a smoother passage through the area. Its opening adds another piece to Islamabad's expanding road network, with authorities completing the work in under a month.
