Pakistanis Watch Around 560 Million YouTube Videos Daily, PTA Chairman Tells Lawmakers
PTA Chairman Hafeez ur Rehman told a parliamentary committee that Pakistan's roughly 96 million YouTube users generate about 560 million daily video views, while WhatsApp serves around 100 million users nationwide.

Pakistanis watch approximately 560 million YouTube videos every day, according to figures shared by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (retd.) Hafeez ur Rehman during a briefing to lawmakers on social media usage in the country.
Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecom on Tuesday, the PTA Chairman said the platform has around 96 million users in Pakistan, making it one of the most widely used digital services nationwide. He noted that the country ranks among the world's leading nations for YouTube video consumption.
Officials clarified that the 560 million figure refers to the number of videos watched in a single day rather than the number of individual viewers, since a single user typically watches multiple videos over the course of a day.
The briefing also covered other major platforms. According to the PTA Chairman, Pakistan has roughly 100 million WhatsApp users, and the messaging service handles billions of messages and calls daily. Lawmakers were also given details on the use of TikTok and other social media and communication apps.
The session took place as parliamentarians discussed the country's growing reliance on digital platforms and raised concerns about the quality of internet and mobile network services available to consumers.
The figures underscore the scale of Pakistan's digital audience and the importance of reliable connectivity for everyday communication and entertainment. They also add context to ongoing policy discussions about network performance and internet service quality across the country.
