Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the opening of a new tourism facility at Taunsa Barrage in Kot Addu, designed to let visitors observe the rare Indus blind dolphin in its natural environment. In a post on X, she shared that the resort allows guests to enjoy morning tea while watching the dolphins leap through the waters of the River Indus.

The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Blind Dolphin Resort covers 120 kanals along the riverbank. According to the chief minister, the project was developed under the vision for a 'Magnificent Punjab' and aims to offer an eco-friendly recreational destination built to international tourism standards.

The resort includes hospitality services, scenic terrace views and dining options, while also supporting wildlife conservation efforts. Maryam Nawaz said the facility would give visitors a chance to explore Pakistan's natural heritage and observe one of the country's rare aquatic species in its natural habitat.

The Indus blind dolphin, also known as the Indus river dolphin, is an endangered species found primarily in the lower reaches of the Indus River. Conservationists have long highlighted the need for protected habitats and responsible tourism to safeguard the animal's population.
