The US government has announced a reward of up to $20 million for information leading to the identification or location of Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel such as scientists. The offer, made through the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program, also covers information on the movement of these assets and may include relocation for informants.
The reward was publicized by US Central Command (CENTCOM) on X (formerly Twitter) and appears on the Rewards for Justice website run by the Diplomatic Security Service. It comes a year after President Donald Trump claimed that US and Israeli strikes had destroyed or obliterated Iran’s nuclear sites. The new push signals that Washington is still seeking fresh intelligence on the remnants of the program.
In 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Iran was enriching uranium to 60 percent purity, a short technical step from the roughly 90 percent needed for a nuclear weapon. Iran is the only non-nuclear-weapon state known to produce uranium at that level, and the stockpile, if enriched further, could be enough for several weapons. The IAEA has also said it lost “continuity of knowledge” on centrifuges and other key components.
The reward offer underscores ongoing concerns about Iran’s nuclear activities despite previous claims of destruction. It remains unclear what specific information the US is seeking or how the reward will be administered. The State Department has not provided further details.
This development follows reports of Iran distributing iodine tablets near the Bushehr nuclear plant and cryptic social media posts amid fears of a US nuclear strike on Iran. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely.
